Michiko was born and raised in Tokyo, Japan. Michiko’s Grandmother was Mrs. Japan; so, her father invested in her training to follow the family legacy. Michiko studied Traditional Japanese Dance, Piano, Singing and Ballet from the early age of 3 years old. At 10 years old, she auditioned for the movie company Toei in Tokyo whom immediately signed her as an actress. For 7 years, Michiko was an actress for Toei participating in over 30 big screen movies and 200 made for TV programs. At the same time, she continued her classical training in the arts as well as her formal education. At the age of 17, Michiko retired from acting and focused on Ballet and music. Every year since 8 years of age, Michiko participated in the Japan National Ballet Competition, always finishing top in her field. At 18 years of age, Michiko won first place in this prestigious competition involving over 1000 contestants. Michiko then became a professional performer for The Tokyo Ballet as a Soloist. Michiko was crowned Mrs. Tokyo at the age of 19. As well, she opened a studio downtown Tokyo which she managed until her relocation to Washington at the age of 22. She opened MK Ballet in Bremerton which was in business for 13 years. She quickly gained a reputation as an extremely qualified and disciplined instructor. She has sent 4 students onward to perform professionally while others have earned handsome scholarships. Michiko has trained and escorted 12 of her students to the Youth America Grand Prix in New York City as an owner of MK Ballet in Bremerton with one top 10 and one top 12 finish to her credit. This is an annual International Ballet competition involving many thousands of contestants from all countries. In 2008, Michiko opened MK Ballet in The Issaquah Highlands with her husband. MK Ballet is a place to learn Ballet, both the technical aspects as well as respect for the art.
